how can i survive a job as a construction labor man?

I just got a new job today, the work is intensive, laying down pipe and operating various machinery.

what can i implement in my diet, so when the going gets rough – I don’t stop? I have packed a ham sandwich with cheese, am thinking about packing another one. I have a 10 hour shift, 7 am – 5pm. I also have a gallon of water in my truck so if I get thirsty I can chug that.

I need to be able to keep my energy up for a long period of time, what foods would allow me to do that.

Thank you.

You work hard and need a good breakfast to start you off- slow release energy like anything whole wheat (bread or cereal) and an egg for protein. Snack on bananas or dried fruit such as raisins, nuts would be very good. Lots of water is good. Have at least two sandwiches for the day and find things to accompany them such as pickles, chips or cherry tomatoes (more for variety than specific nutrition)

nuts, avocados, yogurt, granola, protein (like your ham) I would bring a second meal and a couple snacks for throughout the shift

Lots of protein and complex carbs will help keep you going, build muscle and give you energy. Cheese stix, hard boiled eggs, meat and fish are all high protein. Granola bars, dried fruit, all fruit really, whole wheat bread, crackers and pasta (not as complex, but better than nothing) are all carbs.

Definitely pack another sandwich. Water is good.

    Good luck! Lisa
