My friend recently entered into a written contract with a city to build a road in the city. He started the project however a few weeks later a hurricane struck the area and damaged the construction. My friend went to the city and said that he was going to need more money to finish the job due to the damage and the city official agreed. My friend finished the construction and billed the city however the city refused to pay more than the original price on the original contract. My friend wants to sue the city but wants to make sure he will win. Can you explain please

I recently relocated to Chicago, and spent six months making a new life for myself. Now, Ive realized that I cant stop “doing”. I used to enjoy reading, relaxing, chilling…Now I read for five minutes and though I dont feel bored I find myself ten minutes later sitting at this computer looking up the Peace Corps. I just left the military, and frankly….I’m all Corps’ed out. What the hell do I do to either chill-out, or just go with this. I’ve tried working out, meditation, etc. I’ve also tried just working. Had a job at a porn store, a job working construction, and numerous odd jobs in the last month. Im working like 100 hrs a week, and though I’m exhausted…I cant seem to settle down. Help me out on this one. And yeah…if I need a shrink, they better be cheap, because I managed to spend more than I made on credit card purchases.

The Department of Interior today announced final approval of two large solar energy projects in southern California that will produce 754 megawatts of clean renewable energy to power more than a quarter million homes and create almost 300 permanent jobs and about 700 construction jobs.

The Bureau of Land Management has been expediting approval of large solar projects on BLM land in order to meet the deadline to secure funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (a.k.a. the stimulus). Since July, the BLM and CA Energy Commission have given final or preliminary approval to nine large solar projects that together will bring more than 4,000 megawatts of clean, renewable power on-line in coming years, enough to power about 1.2 million homes, including a 1 gigawatt concentrated solar thermal project in southern CA.

Some of these projects are solar photovoltaic, but most are concentrated solar thermal.

http://climateprogress.org/2010/10/06/concentrated-solar-surge-begins-in-southwest/

Certain individuals are constantly claiming that renewable energy is too expensive, the technology isn’t sufficiently developed, etc. etc. Yet California is implementing these technologies to move towards meeting the state’s 33% renewable energy standard by 2020. What are your thoughts on this news?
Concentrated solar thermal costs approximately 15 cents per kWh which is cheaper than new nuclear power. As for carbon sequestration – don’t make me laugh. David’s reference is to a study of what this virtually non-existent technology could hypothetically cost.
more info on solar thermal: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/04/14/solar_electric_thermal/print.html
David’s example proves my point, by the way.

“[Arizona Public Service Co.] will pay about 14 cents per kilowatt-hour [for energy from Solana solar thermal], compared with about 10 cents per kilowatt-hour from natural-gas plants at peak demand.”

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0221biz-solar0221.html

And solar thermal prices will drop as the technology becomes more widely implemented, as opposed to long-established fossil fuels and nuclear which are becoming no cheaper.
David – yes I know you’re ignoring all costs other than initial construction. I’m glad you admit that. Concentrated solar thermal plants have storage capacity, by the way. Thus they can also operate at night.

I am 22 years old I live in AZ and out of the blue i want to move to colorado with just a few hundred dollars in my pocket. I have always liked odd jobs the most and being independent. Lately this past week I have realized AZ is not the place for me I have hated it since 1999 I have had no inspiration or motivation to keep a job for more than 1 year. My ex girl friend has been in colorado for 2 months now she wants me to go visit her for the weekend. What I have been thinking for the past week is to possibly move there. Once im there i have 2 days to decide whether or not i should stay or return home with my buddy pass on sunday evening. For the past few days I have been on Craigslist filling out application after application for any job i dont care what type. Someone contacted me this morning for a construction job so im gonna call them on monday. but job corp is an option if i fail. I will be homeless after four days being there. Im strong any advise.
Alright so the first letter i wrote i could not write more it did not extend a whole lot. Thanks for all the responses. My gf is going to school for massage therapy for horses she will only be out there for a few more weeks then will be going back home, and will be returning months down the road. Even though she will be moving back home for a while, Im basically not ever going back to az and yes im escaping from az i have not liked it and will not miss it. Im no moocher never will be, im gonna be in colorado working day and night jobs just to stay off the streets, yes i will get tired, yes i will be experiencing something new but i will manage to get by and be able to save until i can afford to get a roomate. I honestly have never encouraged myself to do this sort of thing. I do know if i stay living with my mom having no responsibilities traveling down the same road with no ambition then im gonna fail just like i have been. I feel this is my only way to escape and do something worthy.

In Texas, the economy is booming. There is lots of developing of natural resources going on. No government interference. In North Dakota, the unemployment rate is about 3%. There is lots of developing of natural resources going on. No government interference. In Pennsylvania there is lots of developing of natural resources. Many thousands of jobs have been created. The Republican governor is systematically dismantling green jobs, green czars, environmental bureaucratic interference. All with no harm.

Ultra liberal California is 51 billion dollars in debt. Drilling for oil is not permitted. Ultra liberal Michigan is on the verge of collapse: unions, welfare, minorities are much of the cause.

Ultra liberal New York is worried about gay marriage. Over the past several years New York City has lost 1.2 million people in the population count. The reason: too much government. Highest taxes in the country. Unions control public sector jobs and most construction jobs.

Free enterprise works.
Liberals: Are you having a stupid answers contest here?
